So yesterday turned out pretty amazing…
Lets start from the beginning…
B went to work just after six…I went upstairs to this amazing spot I claimed as our yoga spot and was blessed with a very profound experience, which I was in two minds about sharing, but I have decided that I would… because…
…sharing is caring…
So, here goes…
…many moons ago, I was asked a question which the answer have been eluding me…until that specific moment…on my yoga mat…and I believe that it would not have happened if I had done my routine, “yoga with Adrienne, 30 days” on youtube.
As I had no internet reception at the Umfolozi Bird Park, I had only me to deal with…it was a calm space, very quiet, except for the birds outside…and I stretched and posed…
After my exercise, I was lying still in the most difficult pose which is also the most needed of poses and this is where the answer came…after almost 30 years…
…but first let me give you the gist of the question…
In my difficult teens, I was blessed with an awesome boyfriend who had a beautiful Mother with some very difficult circumstances…which I will not go into now, but…
One day, she looked at me quizzically and asked me “What it was that I was chasing, for it seemed to her that I was always restless and looking for something more out there”.
Well, this question has always followed me around and I could never forget her face as she asked me, because I knew that she was absolutely right…
…and just like that, in this peaceful moment on my yoga mat, it entered my mind that all along, it was not something out there, but something in ‘here’… the answer is and was always there, but I just could not see it until that very moment of peace… it was ‘self-love’ that I was searching for…lying naked on the mat and giving gratitude to my health, wealth and everything else, the darkness I have been through and the light times…it dawned on me that if we do not have this ‘self-love’, we will continue searching and never find what we are looking for…
…and this means loving yourself enough to take the time to do the necessary ‘stuff’ for yourself like yoga, meditation, surfing, dancing or anything else that make you feel special, to bring about peace.
Obviously, after that profound realization, the day turned out to be one for the books…
I got up and started making a recording of this and was super blessed looking up and seeing a Knysna Loerie bird staring at me…would you believe this magical experience…
…B came back and we went for breakfast before checking out from the Bird Park…
In our life, we are used to the ‘changes of our plans by the minute’…
B received a telephone call from the workmen to say that they may not work on the Saturday as the civil work is being done on church grounds and the church service was being held. So respectfully we had the day off to do what we wanted to…
…so after we booked in to our new accommodations closer to site at Wendy’s Lodge, we decided to give Cape Vidal a go…
When we eventually left Mtubathuba, as we had a change of plans yet again in the meantime, we were in two minds if it was going to be worthwhile. Even the weather did not seem to be amped as the clouds looked kinda heavy…
B was actually quite tired as we first had to drive to Richards Bay to hire some machinery needed for today, as it is Sunday and the tool hire would be closed.
So happy we took the chance and went…well worth it! Luckily we are blessed with very good music to listen to and the drive there were beautiful with so many lush green trees surrounding us…
As we have been to St Lucia when we worked in Richards Bay, and I have written all about that previously…we went straight for the gates of Cape Vidal. Also our time was limited as day-visitors should be out through the gate again at six o’clock.
Cape Vidal is situated north-east of St Lucia within the Isimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site and falls within the St Lucia Marine Reserve.
We were here with the motorcycle last time and therefore we were not allowed to go into Cape Vidal…but, if you are around these parts in a vehicle, I implore you to make a plan and feast your eyes on this little piece of heaven. It is a unique and memorable experience where wildlife meets the ocean…
All the tiredness soon disappeared and were replaced by excitement as we saw so many animals. They were everywhere…rhino, cape buffalo, kudu, bushbuck and hippo. There are lookout points where you can watch the animals close up without being seen or heard. We sat at these lookout points appreciating such splendour in harmonious silence. A feeling of ‘lightness of being’ surrounded us…
Further along we found the most beautiful open stretch of sand at the beach and there were so many fishermen with their families. The camping facilities seem to be awesome too. So much choice of accommodation, log cabins as well as campsites and someday it would be awesome to have a sleep-over.
Cape Vidal Bay boasts a designated launch site for ski-boats and deep sea fishing and spear fishing are popular sports.
Snorkellers can do some treasure hunting as it is said that the shipwreck of the Dorothea which sank on 31 January 1898 was carrying gold from the Transvaal.
Cape Vidal really was a beautiful surprise…
An added blessing was dinner at The Ocean Basket in St Lucia where we were spoiled by Richard, our very good waiter…
And driving back, I was super blessed yet again when I received a voice message with a brand new dub song of which I was the inspiration, from our beautiful friend Raynard, who is sure to be famous soon…
Superblessed and Loved indeed…
