Some days remind us just how beautiful life can be when love brings people together, and Pieter and Coral’s wedding celebration in Mossel Bay was one of those very special days.
We stayed at Santos, right on the beach, and what a privilege it was to celebrate this beautiful occasion in the very place where the ocean, sunshine and love came together so perfectly. It was such an honour for Bethesda and me to be the wedding celebrants for Pieter and Coral as they promised to walk through life together.
A Love Story with a Little Cake and Coffee Magic
Pieter and Coral’s story has always made us smile. It is a reminder that love sometimes needs a little patience, a few attempts, a cake or two, and perhaps the perfect cup of coffee!
Pieter had his eye on Coral for a while, but winning her heart took a little more than simply asking her out. And perhaps the real turning point was when he arrived with coffee for Coral and her mom. What a thoughtful gesture! Coral’s mom encouraged her daughter to take a chance on this lovely man, and perhaps we should give her a little credit for the beautiful wedding we were celebrating.
Coral’s mom, Anita, is an amazing woman, and it was lovely to have her as part of this special day. Sometimes the people who love us can see possibilities that we are not quite ready to see ourselves. Her encouragement may just have helped open the door to a love story that was waiting to unfold.
As we shared during the ceremony, conversations became friendship, friendship became trust, and trust became love. And now, here they were, choosing one another for a lifetime.
A Beautiful Family Coming Together
One of the most touching parts of a wedding is seeing not only two people come together, but also the families and loved ones who become part of their journey.
We were delighted to meet Pieter’s beautiful sister, Anja and her partner, Wessel, who came all the way from Mauritius to share in the celebration. Having family travel to be present for such an important milestone makes the occasion even more meaningful.
Pieter’s son, De Wet and his daughter, Ilana are also an important part of this new chapter. Love has a wonderful way of expanding a family, making room for new relationships and creating connections that grow stronger with time.
And then there was Coral, looking absolutely gorgeous on her special day — with her beautiful green hair adding her own unique, colourful personality to the occasion! She looked radiant, and it was lovely to see her embracing her own style as she stepped into this exciting new chapter with Pieter.
A Perfect Day on the Beach
We were fortunate to be staying right there at Santos, with the beautiful Mossel Bay beach on our doorstep. A special thank you to Sam, the manager at Santos, for his wonderful service and for looking after us so well. From arranging our accommodation to making sure our hardworking little team was comfortably sorted out, he made everything so easy for us. We also thoroughly enjoyed the delicious feast of food, and judging by all the happy faces around us, our guests enjoyed it just as much! Santos really is a wonderful wedding venue, with its beautiful beachfront setting, lovely atmosphere and great hospitality. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate Pieter and Coral’s special day.
But first, we arrived lock, stock and barrel – or rather, with enough wedding décor and equipment to set up our own little beach wedding!
We had carpets, a real Persian runner for the bride and groom to walk down the aisle, beautiful dream catchers lovingly made by my daughter-in-love, Katja.
Large stretch tent and sound system and even a disco ball. Luckily, we had our friend Christo with us – a seasoned captain and sailor who knows all about ropes, wind and exactly where to position a tent so it doesn’t decide to take off on its own! Along with two hardworking helpers (Tower is our right hand man and has been with us for many years), we were ready to make magic on the beach!
Bethesda kept the music flowing with his own playlist until the bride decided it was time to take over. Coral had come prepared with an amazing playlist of her own, and what a delightful treat it was to hear her musical choices fill the beach and add her own special flavour to the celebration!
And the weather? It played along beautifully!
The conditions were just perfect for a beach wedding, with the ocean as our backdrop and that wonderful feeling of being exactly where we were meant to be. There is something magical about celebrating love beside the sea. The sound of the waves, the fresh ocean air and the open sky seem to remind us that life is full of possibilities.
A wedding does not need to be extravagant to be meaningful. What matters most is the love shared, the people who show up, the promises made and the memories created. And this celebration had all of that in abundance.
Our Honour as Wedding Celebrants
For Bethesda and me, being wedding celebrants is about so much more than standing in front of a couple and guiding them through their vows. It is about honouring their story, celebrating the journey that brought them together, and reminding them of the beautiful choice they are making.
As we stood with Pieter and Coral, we were reminded that marriage is not about perfection. It is about finding someone who feels like home, someone who makes you laugh, someone who stands beside you through the storms and celebrates with you when the sun shines.
Like the ocean behind them, love has its tides. There will be calm days and challenging days, adventures and quiet moments. But the beauty of commitment lies in choosing each other, over and over again.
And, of course, may there always be cake and coffee nearby when needed!
Pieter and Coral, thank you for allowing us to be part of your special day. It was an honour to celebrate your love and to witness the beginning of this new chapter in your lives.
May your marriage be filled with laughter, kindness, adventure, patience and endless reasons to be grateful. May you continue to see the best in each other, make space for one another to grow, and remember the little things that brought you together in the first place.
